Synchrotron Rf System for the Jaeri-kek Joint Project
A synchrotron rf system has been designed for the JAERI-KEK Joint Project for High-Intensity Proton Accelerators in Japan. A new type of rf cavity loaded with MA(Magnetic Alloy) cores will be used for synchrotrons in order to achieve the high field gradient for the rf acceleration. The status of R&D on the cavity is also reported.

The Japan Hadron Facility of KEK and the Neutron Science Project of JAERI have been merged to one project; the KEK/JAERI Joint Project for high-intensity proton accelerator facility. The purpose of the Joint Project is to pursue frontier science and nuclear technology. The accelerator for the Joint Project comprises a normaland super-conducting linac, a 3-GeV rapid cycling synchrotron and a 50-...

In recent years, several underground neutrino observatories 1) 3) have reported that the atmospheric neutrino ratio, R ≡ (νμ + ν̄μ)/(νe + ν̄e), is significantly smaller than the theoretical expectations. This “atmospheric neutrino anomaly” can be explained by a neutrino oscillation hypothesis with an oscillation parameter region of ∆m2 ∼ 10−2eV2 and sin 2θ ∼ 1. The atmospheric neutrino anomaly ha...

We present a measurement of the electron spectrum from inclusive semileptonic B decay, using 5.1 fb−1 of Υ(4S) data collected with the Belle detector. A high-momentum lepton tag was used to separate the semileptonic B decay electrons from secondary decay electrons. We obtained the branching fraction, B(B → Xe+ν) = (10.90 ± 0.12 ± 0.49)%, with minimal model dependence. From this measurement, we ...
